Deven's parting gift from Pimentel, Davies and Dote: Petrovich land annexed
City manager Mark Deven, who has resigned, received a farewell present in the form a 154-acre annexation that will benefit the city's favored developer Paul Petrovich. Council members Art Pimentel, Skip Davies and Martie Dote obliged both Petrovich and Deven by approving the annexation. Council members Bill Marble and Tom Stallard voted against the resolution.

How is it a "present"? Your choice of words suggests that he somehow benefit from the Council action. I don't see how that could be the case.

It's a reward for Deven's obvious desire to annex Petrovich's property. This has been thoroughly documented at WoodlandRecord.com to a point that the public should have concerns over trust in doing the people's business. The staff report and his comments during the meeting are further evidence of Deven's desire to placate Petrovich. Outside of his wish to annex the land that has been made public, I can't speak to his personal relationship with Petrovich and any benefits or presents derived by that.
Dino, you did not answer Matt's question. People that receive presents usually benefit from them. Answer the question.
When someone receives a present, such has value. How did Deven benefited from such? Dino, you failed to provide an answer. It leads one to question your credibility.
I answered the question perfectly. Learn to read.
Dino, your answer is a non answer. It sounds like double talk. Learn to think.
My answer was very clear. If you're not adept at language, don't participate in blogs.
I have talked with Mark Deven on more than one occasion, and have also debated with him on Measure V.
He seemed to be a man of principle and had the best interest of Woodland in mind. I believe he left because he could not deal with those around him who did not always share these qualities.
As to the question, he did benefit from the council's decision, as he no doubt used this "VICTORY" on his resume when he left Woodland. For Matt and Cirenio1, your comments are typical of politicians who parse words all of the time, most often because you feel offended by anyone who doesn't agree with you.

Clearly you have no idea what "parse words" means.

This is a perfect example as to why I haven't read the Woodland Journal/Record in the past few years.
Dino is still as condescending (and wrong) as he was before.
I will avoid these sites for at least another couple of years.
I bet Karl will be back today.
