As I recall - that land is in an area of deep flooding per the FEMA maps? If you build in an area that is subject to flooding per FEMA and it is in the flood zone, it causes a larger footprint to be added to the maps and more people having to pay flood insurance. This would affect more homes in the Springlake are.?.
That is the parcel that fronts the freeway and would be accessed by Petrovich's Bronze Star Road. The annexation was denied by the Planning Commission and the appeal hearing was set for Jan. 18 - then the item was removed from the agenda. Now it appears there is some negotiation over price and terms. It could be part of the land will service the new water agency... but the city's practice is to not provide any information on real estate negotiations. They should state the purpose of the negotiations without having to give details of price and terms. This is a major problem with the current admin and council. This land is near the water treatment facilities (and so is Gateway II). So we'll see if the the appeal is overturned so Petrovich can have his 154 acre annexation OR the denial is upheld and Petrovich still gets his Gateway II. Because of the trend, I can only assume there is something fishy going on.
