Too bad they could not have moved quicker on this. By the time it is approved, and eventually put in place it will be too late for this election.
Their plan worked!
Their plan worked? The only people this plan would have helped are the two encumbents. Harris has no money, is not employed, is homeless, and has no campaign account. harris has no signs. How would this ordinance help him?
This ordinance could only help Marble and Davies.
What does this ordinance help?
This ordinance helps the public interest and civic participation in general.
I didn't bring this free speech reform forward for my own advantage, but to promote tenants' ability to become more involved in our democratic process.
Such selfless civic motivation may indeed seem alien to you, anonymous.
The city council should have acted to make it effective for its own election, don't you think?
That's the way public interest works in Davis. Is Woodland more politically corrupt than Davis?
Don't Woodland tenants deserve the same recognition and performance as those in Davis.
The city council could have made this ordinance -- immediately effective -- with 4 votes. They failed the city's tenants in this election -- by intention.
You say the incumbents would benefit, so why did they fail to properly act?
How does all of this city council behavior smell?
It smells like the city council sacrifices basic community values for the sake of its own crass political purposes.
And what is the point of all your mudslinging?
I will do a superior job as a city council member. That promise you can take to the political bank.
Is our criteria for council membership, how much money and how many lawn signs one has? Or how many large and glossy handouts?
I've walked our city streets for a full work week, during the past few, without any signs or platitudes within propaganda, and I spend the time it takes to understand this community.
What I repeatedly hear from long-time Woodlanders, is that it's now time to -- clean house -- no matter who has big money or lawn signs.
My role is to well perform as the civic housecleaner.
Your personal attacks don't bother or worry me.
So, please don't sling your mud in my direction. You're wasting your energy. If you do, I'll simply clean it off with good politics, which Woodland greatly deserves, and move forward in the civic interest.
Mr. Harris I never slung mud at you I stated facts - you are unemployed, homeless, and do not have a campaign account.
You are the one smearing the current encumbents running for office over following the due process in implementing an ordiance.
You ought to be able to find something reasonable to smear them with instead of making up stuff like this ordinance.
Who does the ordinance help?
The current council members running. They are the only ones with campaign signs to go in the windows.
No one really understands what you are ranting about.
UMMM, The "rant" as you call it has very little to do with yard signs. Bobby has explained himself. Get ready for his under-funded campaign to kick some corrupt rear-ends.
He listens to the residents in Woodland. These good-ol-boys and girls with their mini little cliques don't hear us, they are on their way OUT.
I can tell by some of these comments that Harris has stepped on a few of these precious toes.
I watched Harris rant again last night and the council voted for this ordinance. I still do not know what he is complaining about. The city has done fine for the first 150 years without this ordinance.
I am sure that Marble and Davies very much appreciate being able to put there signs up in apartment windows.

You said: "The city has done fine for the first 150 years without this ordinance."
That explains a lot. You should not be allowed to vote based on pure ignorance.
Dino,
So how do you think that makes the poster ignorant?
This ordinance has only now become an issue when a homeless, jobless, person decides to run for office.
So I guess I should not be allowed to vote either?

You said: "This ordinance has only now become an issue when a homeless, jobless, person decides to run for office."
Bobby said: "Following the 2008 General Election, I contacted every member of the Woodland City Council, to advance this simple remedy: Adoption of a municipal ordinance which supervenes upon all local rental agreements, to permit display of political signage consistent with existing local (election) policies."
You need to do your homework before you chime in.
As for 10:06, did you see the two other comments I referenced? Probably not. Do your homework.
