Harris blasts city council for ignoring renters' rights, notifies media
From the Woodland Record – letter to the editor:
The following is a letter sent to News10, Sacramento:
News Desk, Channel 10:
I request your help with informing residents living as tenants in Woodland that its City Council has recently denied them ability to fully participate in its impending election through their display of political signage.
This timely subject of outrageous city council corruption, involves its intentionally tardy provision of an ordinance protecting free speech rights of local tenants.
These city council members simply don’t recognize any sense of political urgency about unreasonably obstructed and long-overlooked, basic civil rights.
My name is Bobby Harris. I’m one of three candidates for two seats on Woodland City Council at the June 8 election, the only non-incumbent and the only candidate endorsed by the Yolo County Democratic Party Central Committee.

Any valid argument Bobby Harris may have is over shadowed by his "smearing" of the current council. Personally negative campaining turns me away from candiates who point out the faults of others instead of telling us what they can and will do for the community....beyond their printed election statments.
So, when someone points out corruption within our local government, you consider it a "smearing"?
Maybe you are happy with the way our city "leaders" are conducting business. I am ready for some light to be shown on these abusers of power. They are supposed to be representing "we the people", not themselves.
Bobby has a huge uphill battle. He will NOT put up with the current corruption we have. I have not had even ONE of my friends and neighbors say they would not support Bobby.
Bobby is for ALL of US, not just his own political career.
In my opinion, we need a whole lot more citizens willing to put even 1/2 of the amount of effort Bobby has. He gives a GREAT civic example to the rest of US!

What is Harris smoking?
Harris is homeless, unemployed, and has no campaign account. Harris has no signs and has not even paid the city back for his last ballot statement.
This ordinance will only help the two encumbents. They have signs and I assume some apartment owners would want them in their windows.
Again, this is just a strange rant from Harris. What is he smoking?
3:57 Right On! Discursive argument
that would benefit his opponents.
"He gives a GREAT civic example to the rest of US!" You mean like getting arrested? Not holding a job and thus not contibuting to society? Thats not what I call great civic example....
Taking a quick snapshot of this issue, one might think Bobby's focus might just be on the sign issue.
However, look at the timeline he point to. The intentional delay of this NEEDED ordinance points directly to the corruptive nature overall.
These same individuals passed a (soon to be struck down as unconstitutional) emergency ordinance to ban medical pot dispensories in less than a month.
You see, when our city leaders WANT to move on an issue, (even if the issue is not supported by the majority of its citizens) they can move very swiftly.
Bobby's letter is not to discuss if yard signs, (or window signs) would benefit his campaign. It points very clearly to the "make it up as you go" mentality running this city.
It also points to advice he was given by "alleged" supporters, to just sit back and let them take up this issue. It sounds like someone tried to throw Bobby under the bus!
Way to stand up for yourself, Bobby. You are ACES in my book. Keep on shining light into these very dark corners. The roaches are starting to scatter.
11:13, Please check your facts. He was arrested, but the charges were ALL dropped. The local officials tried to GET HIM and they couldn't, he did nothing illegal.
And, just the fact that he is willing to donate his expertise to the broken system that we currently have is a HUGE contribution. I don't see your name on any ballot.
There are plenty unemployed people in this city/county/ and country. Some of my best friends have not been able to find employment for over two years. A lot of them have gone homeless or moved back with parents or friends. I wonder how many of them are willing to go through what Bobby has, and yes for US ALL!
That is a wonderful example of civic involvement!

I would take one Bobby Harris over a corrupt say a more polished corrupt politician like Matt Rexroad any day of the week.
He may not have money as he has not sold his mother and integrity out like other council members say Art P.
He may want to smoke pot for whatever medical reason, California all voted for this.
At least he is honest and for the people he would represent if he could get elected.
Too bad he does not have more money for signs.
He may want to smoke pot for whatever medical reason, California all voted for this.
What Medical Condition? What amount of effort? Surely it doesn't stack up to the years and years of contributions the two incumbents have given to our community.
These incumbents have failed to provide the civic leadership and vision our community deserves.
Examples of such failure are many and if you pay attention to the issues in this campaign, you will certainly understand the truth of what I'm saying.
Woodland needs vision and fiscal responsibility to revitalize our downtown and better manage city development.
I will also help to save and expand our library, promote affordable home ownership and make our government more accessible and responsive.
It's now time to clean house in city hall.
I have read all your propaganda and it smacks of the writing of a stoner that really does not understand how government works.
Good luck. I predict you will come in third place and receive the marijuana first vote.
7:02, 3:57, 11:13, 4:16, and 9:13, I am guessing you are one in the same. You seem to have a personal grind against Bobby. Could you be one of his opponents?
You also mention details that are not well known to most residents in Woodland. Maybe you work in the upper level of city staff. Maybe you are a part of our corrupt city council. Whatever, by picking on Bobby, you only make yourself look even smaller. You appeal to a very limited, small but influential few within your clique. The rest of us that create a wide majority of opinion will vot you out one at a time if needed.
Go Bobby H.
Harris how can you expand the homeless shelter - i mean the library if you are against the sales tax?
I would also like to know how you can claim to be fiscally responsible when you do not have a job and are homeless. You are completely the opposite of fiscal responsibility.
5:45 PM, First of all, I resent you calling our public library a a homeless shelter. Shame on you!
And, it must be nice to have a government job, huh? You can not only keep your job in a tough economy, but you and your union buddies can force us to give you a raise. Pretty sweet deal.
Your spin sure reminds me of how Rexy operates! Way to take notes from his playbook. ;)
You can resent me all you like but if you have ever been to our library then you know it is a hang out for parolees and homeless people during the day.
Give the computers to the homeless shelter and close the library. No one will miss it.
