Let's play "Guess the Developer"

From the KCRA News report "EPA: 'Super Fund' Sign's Not Legit:"

Developer Posted Sign In Curtis Park Rail Yard Site

A sign that says "toxic super fund" was posted earlier this week [posted Nov. 25] at the south end of the Curtis Park Rail Yard site. However, the California Environmental Protection Agency said that notice is incorrect.

Curtis Park resident Camilla Sahlberg said she sees the sign as a way for the developer to pressure the city into approving his plans for development.

Better yet, what developer in 2006 led the City of Sacramento and SACOG to believe that millions would be invested in marketing a mixed-use village at Curtis Park and then this summer said he wasn't doing mixed-use at Curtis Park?

"The Petrovich Development Company is expected to invest millions in an effort to market this mixed-use village concept." Look on page 11 of a grant application from the City of Sacramento to SACOG.

"(Leaders of the Curtis Park neighborhood association have said they don't necessarily plan to sue, but aren't going to be "ramrodded" into accepting a plan they believe is too suburban in character for the historic older neighborhoods that surround it). One in the audience asked Petrovich why he wasn't doing "mixed use," that is, putting homes above stores. His answer: "I did that at Safeway (R Street in Midtown Sacramento). "I lost my butt on it." He said he couldn't get the rents he expected to make it work." Look at the August 7, 2009, SacBee article called "Paul Petrovich: "I'm a developer. That doesn't mean I'm evil."
