Nugget Market

I was browsing web pages today and checked out the Nugget Market web page. Wow, that is a nice web page. You can find all sorts of stuff like recipes, video training, online job application, wine tasting and you can even download their current ads.

Here is some company history from their web page:

1920s – 1940s
• In 1926, the father-son team of William and Mack Stille opens the first Nugget Market in Woodland, CA.
• Nugget Market expands into Knights Landing and Davis.
• With a passion for produce, Mack travels the western states seeking the freshest, highest-quality produce available. Nugget eventually partners with United Produce to expand its selection.

1950s – 1970s
• Gene Stille becomes CEO / President of Nugget Markets.
• Nugget establishes its everyday low prices (EDLP) format with great success.
• Nugget introduces expanded takeout food in its Deli Department, placing emphasis on quality and convenience.

1980s – 1990s
• Nugget begins its long-standing partnership with Nor Cal Produce. Nor Cal allows Nugget to expand and diversify its selection, as well as elevate the level of quality.
• A second Nugget Market opens on Mace Blvd. in Davis.
• Wine stewards are brought on staff to assist shoppers with their selection.
• Nugget Markets purchases two Alpha Beta stores in Sacramento.
• Eric Stille becomes CEO / President, and Gene Stille continues to serve as Chairman of Nugget’s Board of Directors.
• Nugget expands its Deli Departments into full Kitchens staffed by professional chefs, including a Chinese Kitchen.
• The Stilles open two Food 4 Less stores in Vallejo and Woodland, becoming the first independent grocer to operate both price-impact and conventional formats.

Since 2000
• Nugget Markets opens the first of its European-marketplace stores in Vacaville and another soon after in Davis (Covell Blvd.). The Vacaville store brings together a multi-faceted Kitchen and comprehensive wine selection featuring a wine tasting room. Nugget also opens Shallots Cooking School in its Vacaville store, which features well-known chefs from the Northern California region.
• Nugget’s Kitchens launch their European-style bread-and-pastry program.
• The Nugget Markets on Riverside Blvd. in Sacramento moves to its larger location in Lake Crest Village on Florin Road. Nugget closes its Hillsdale location.
• The Stilles purchase the vacant Sam’s Town Center in Cameron Park and open a Food 4 Less store, offering the largest meat counter on the Sierras’ Western Slope.
• Nugget Markets opens a signature store in West Sacramento.
• In 2006, Nugget Market, Inc. acquires three Ralph’s locations in the greater Sacramento area.
• Nugget opens a full-scale bakery facility, allowing all stores to offer an expanded baked good selection.
• Nugget Markets in Roseville opened in 2007 and Nugget Markets in El Dorado Hills and Elk Grove opened in 2008.

Who cares. We want a Super WalMart with better prices like Vacaville.

Wow. You're a genius. You should get on the planning commission.

Also worthy of mention:
Nugget Market has been on the list of the top 100 places to work for the last three years.
They have very little turnover in employees for a company of their size and type.
The administration is dedicated to family values, education, quality, service and friendliness.
Because administration and employees work together as a team, they have reached goals to enrich the communities that support them.

I am Sam,

Make sure the design of your Super Walmart is 1880s and is built in the urban reserve of Gateway II.

To follow on the contributions of the Stille family, and not planning-by-Oakie, there are a couple of bungaloids listed in David Wilkinson's "Crafting a Valley Jewel" that were built in 1941 by William Stille. What a great success story we have here in Woodland.

Super Walmart injects their meat with gas to keep it red...but hey, if that's what you want, the is a store in Dixon. Happy shopping!
