That $114k is just part of the money that could have been spent on the opera house. Nothing like spending all the E money at one place. How much was spent on the exercise room? I don't remember any of this extra stuff as part of the senior center plans wehn we voted on measure E.
Speaks to leadership issues. I look at this photo and think it reflects misplaced priorities. Hiddleson Pool is closing, Clark Field needs immediate repairs, etc., etc., etc.
No, no, no. The folks who voted TWICE for this extra tax should be to blame. Some might say "leadership issues" I say a lack of community involvement. These so called leaders were put there by their citizenry. If you don't want to be taken advantage of, involve yourself with your elected and tell them what you want and don't want.
A community center that the community can not afford to use is stupid.
I don't remember asking our County leaders for another high priced campground that you can't camp at either.
I agree with both comments (11:20 and 9:26). Measure H and E voters should have realized they would have little control over the expenditures despite the accompanying measures that were supposed to let leaders know how they wanted the extra taxes spent.
Obviously, Measure E money was spent disproportionately to what the voters "said" they wanted. I did not vote for Measure E, but I did vote on what the money was to be spent on... including the Opera House expansion. Where is that? It has appeared in the form of such things as a huge, unused exercise room at the Community Center. It has appeared in the form of new asphalt and sidewalks all over the city, and it has appeared in the form of new sprinkler systems.
The main problem I see is that when voters indicated they wanted to spend the tax money on the center, they were voting on one set of plans. The city then added more "stuff" to the center, a set of plans voters did not vote on... so really, Measure E money has been misspent.
There's no reason why the WOH expansion could not have been built yet... other than the money was not allocated fairly or wisely.

Measure H money was spent on issue that we voted on. Measure E money was spent on what they (Council & Staff) wanted to spend on.
