Meeting was great. Great attendance. Glad I went.
"Historic Woodland Downtown Merchants?"
Just how old are the members? Ha ha. Sounds like a name Anita would come up with...I give this organization little or no chance. Of course given that Anita and Brenda have worked to undermine and oppose every other effort that's been tried downtown maybe the rats will stay with the ship this time.
I still can't understand where comments like 7:45 come from.
The downtown merchants are just trying to eek out an existance in this lovely town.
Brenda and Anita are just two merchants in the downtown. When comments like this are made it is meant as a mean spirit to all the downtown merchants.
All of us in the downtown are trying to re-unite, re-group, and revive this fine City.
When I was growing up my mother always taught me "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Just good manners.
On the other hand, if you have some advice that you feel would help the situation out, let's hear it. I am sure you do not have a grudge against ALL the merchants, do you?
one of the "rats" as you put it.
So what have they (Anita and Brenda) opposed that was so good for the downtown since you seem to know the history. I am new to this.
I would like to know more history.
I have no problem with downtown merchants. Many of them are great people and I hold them in high esteem. Nor would I ever describe them as "rats." But having watched this current bunch who are behind this push undermine and criticize and do everything they could to stop any number of downtown initiatives over the years, I can't stomach this. I wish the downtown nothing but good things. I am confident that Anita's past will soon either catch up to her or she will be unable to resist being mean and that will be the end of it.
I have to agree.
"But having watched this current bunch who are behind this push undermine and criticize and do everything they could to stop any number of downtown initiatives over the years"
Seems you are the same person who just posting a different version.
Pointing out a number of initiatives that they have undermined so I again ask what have they stopped or prevented from occurning downtown?
Your comments appear to be nothing more than a personal attack rather than factual.
Ahh, just the facts, eh?
It's clear that you are either with them or have no history downtown. Frankly, it's not my job to educate you so believe what you want. If you have any ability to learn you will learn soon enough.
Have a nice day!
Ahh 8:37 AM whats the matter nobody wants to play with you? Did you get your feeling hurt?
Just worthless rambling. Blah Blah Blah
Just for the record I am not a Brenda fan. I am supportive of Anita she and other merchants are attempting to re-group and that in my eyes is what our downtown needs.
Based upon what I am hearing things are heading in a good direction. I wish her well.
That last comment is just the Jr. High response Woodland NEEDS to eliminate.
They already said they were new to the downtown. So enlighten them, if you have any knowledge. Otherwise YOU are the attitudinal problem ALL us downtowners are dealing with.

Ahhh, if you only knew, buddy. Been there - done that. I wish you well and wish better things for you than the downward course this group will take.
So let me get this straight. So far Anita and her "rats" as you claim have spent how much our city money so far?
Answer 0 dollars
10:50
"Ahhh, if you only knew..."
What kind of response is that? You brought up nonspecific allegations and bloggers are calling you on them - but you can't seem to support your empty words.
What is the "downward course" the group will take? Words randomly spring from your keyboard but nobody knows what you're talking about.
The informed do, buddy boy. The informed do...smile.
I have to agree with the critic that there is some history here with these particular folks. They have been a big part of the divisions over the years and so they have a lot to prove. We'll just have to wait and see if the leopard can change its spots. I'll be watching Anita.
8:15 Informed
By all means, keep trying to make a point.
8:14,
The only "divisions" as you put it, have been with the City staff not supporting the downtown businesses. As soon as the City welcomes the business climate, and supports it, these divisions will begin to close.
To date, I have only seen one Council candidate who is in support of us downtown. Bobby Harris. One person, a Council does not make. Our elected need to demand better support from the City. Currently it is the other way around. City staff runs roughshod over its downtown core. They refuse to communicate with us and slip things in behind our backs. By the time the City gets an idea to Council chambers, they are too quick to vote on it. Never mind who it might effect.
I am guessing that this negative poster works for the City. They certainly do not operate a buisiness in the downtown.
Anita is getting things started WITHOUT the support from our City.
"I have to agree with the critic that there is some history here with these particular folks."
Your a sore loser. Anita and Brenda are leaders and have taken their own time and money to fight the city and the Stallards on some real bad ideas that would have dragged our downtown down. The most recent was the PBID.
When they are right the rest of the downtown follows them. When their wrong we don't. You are not the only one with a mind.
Yea, those darn Stallards. Where do they get off investing hundreds of thousands into our downtown, bringing in a variety of quality businesses and office uses, and participating in community activities? Where do they get off? Let's stop them now!
Now Anita there's a leader! She's done...well, and then there was...wait!...She...oh...come back later...I'll think of something!
8:31
Who, in this thread, said the Stallards have not contributed to the downtown? They have done a great job with their buildings and they support public art.
Anita organizes the Halloween and Christmas events each year. Maybe this year the city will support her as Deven has promised. Anita also fought against the way the PBID was structured/processed - so she represented the majority of property owners in the area. Like many, she wasn't against the concept of an association (which is why she has started one now) - but the city messed the whole PBID up. That could have worked if it was presented better and organized differently.
8:31 "Anita and Brenda are leaders and have taken their own time and money to fight the city and the Stallards on some real bad ideas that would have dragged our downtown down."
Try r-e-a-d-i-n-g next time.
Anita has been a negative force in downtown Woodland for as long as I can remember. She only started working on the Christmas event a few years ago.
And blaming the City for the demise of the PBID is rich. Always someone else's fault isn't it? I hear what a lot of people around town are saying. Namely, that with every allocation of money that has been spent downtown over the years it's always been with the call for the downtown businesses to step up. We're all still waiting.
Anon. 9:55
Yes, try reading. Nobody has disputed that the Stallards have not invested in the downtown (with improved properties made available to businesses). You can't even correctly cite who said what. 4:32 was addressing the Stallard's connection to the PBID (again, they did not dispute improving properties as you suggested).
The PBID lost because the city messed it up. Period. You can deny it all you want, but the PBID lost and it was the city's fault. Who failed to contact ALL property and business owners? Who made up the convoluted fee system? Who tried to give themselves more "votes" based on parking lots they own?
Obviously, nobody's waiting for you to do anything - you don't know what's going on right in front of your eyes.
Dino:
Wrong again. Stop buying all the lies you've been told. You're clueless about downtown and apparently always will be!
Ha ha! Nice to see you're still protecting your girlfriend Brenda. She got another suit thrown out of court but we won't hear about it on this blog...the blog for Dino and his friends.
You're hilarious. Keep up the good work. We're all having a great time at you and your buddie's expense!
News flash... PBID lost. Idiot.
