Red Light Runners
Is it just me or does it seem like tons of people run red lights. It is crazy, every time I am driving somewhere I see someone blowing through a stop light. Just this morning I was pulling out of Farmer's Central onto 102 with a green light and a car came blowing through the intersection north on 102. It was not like they just missed it, I was already half way through the intersection. We both had to swerve to avoid a collision.
Has anyone else noticed an increase in this problem?

Just yesterday I was preparing to turn East on Main Street from First with oncoming traffic when another person heading east on main street completely blew through the intersection. It is by pure luck that that person was not hit by myself or the other car. At that same intersection previously I have almost hit pedestrians running through the intersection against a red light, almost hitting them.
I was at the corner of pioneer and main street. We were heading to home depot. Light turned green and next thing a car is sailing right through heading south. Narrowly missing the car next to us. I make it a point to wait a couple of seconds. Just like you Jeff I have noticed and increase in the amount of people running red lights these days.
Is red light running a serious problem?
Drivers who run red lights are responsible for an estimated 260,000 crashes in the U.S. each year, killing over 800 people each year . Nationally, red light running fatalities increased by 15 percent between 1992 and 1997, far outpacing the 6 percent rise in all other fatal crashes.
Red light running accidents are also the most likely to cause injury. Occupant injuries occur in 45 percent of red light running accidents , compared with 30 percent for other types.
Who runs red lights, and why?
All types of people run red lights. The most common reason (47 percent) is just impatience.
Were you born yesterday, Dino?
